One reason Bridge to Terabithia may be banned is because of the language. In the dialogue between Jess and his father swear words are used several times. Patterson defends her word choice because it's based on how people she knew from the area talked.
Another reason may be due to death in the story. One of the main characters dies and many critics feels it is unacceptable for children to read about death.
