oxygen defuses blue light last, chlorophyll, freezing point of water is 32 degrees, fusion of hydrogen into helium gives off radiation. well.. scientifically.. sky is blue because of the particles in the air, and water, which reflects from sunlight and acts like a prism.. mirror thing... grass is green cuz of chloroplasts.. thing
and ice is cold because ice is frozen water... and water freezes at 0 degrees celcius.. which is cold.... sun if hot because of it's inner core..
BUT if you want to explain to a 3 yr old.... say .................
umm............................ what i just said lol then he/she would go.. HUH?? and wont question you... Because your eyes tell you so, dear.
Why is the grass green?
Because your eyes tell you so, my child.
Why is ice cold, Mommy?
Because it is colder than you are, so it feels cold.
Why is the sun hot?
Because it is like fire and the stove.
Enjoy these answers. I just made them up.
that is nature. thats the way it is. just tell her the truth. its a good thing that little kid is interested in science. if you cant answer, just tell her what you think.
For a 3-year old... ..hmmmm.... ..I had to answer the same questions too.
The sky is blue because thats the color of the air when seen far away. Besides, it would look funny if it were any other color.
Ice is cold, because if it were anything else, it would be water.
The grass is green because it grows better that way. The other colors are not good at growing grass. Besides, purple grass is silly.
The sun is hot, because it is a ball of fire. We need the sun to see the blue sky, grow the green grass and to melt the cold ice. Refraction, Chlorophyll, Freezing, Fusion.
Then when she gets older she can look those up.
Just tell her the truth.
The sky is blue because of the way the atmosphere scatters (or interacts with) incoming sunlight - sunlight gets bounced around in all directions and it's mostly the blue part of sunlight that gets bounced around.
Grass is green because of the way grass absorbs some of the sunlight and reflects only the green light to your eyes.
Ice is cold because ice is frozen water and to freeze something you have to make it cold - colder than you are, so it feels cold.
The Sun is hot because of constant thermonuclear (or chemical) reactions inside it - it's like a bomb that is constantly blowing up - or a big fireball.
BTW, it is astounding how many of the previous posters who answered got these questions wrong. People - the sky is NOT blue because "other colors are reflected off" or because "it acts like a prism!" Grass is not green "because it grows better that way!" Some of you sound like three-year-olds.
God is Good!!!
just tell your daughter that it is the creation of God and He only knows the answer.
You answer them as truthfully as you can. Be honest with her. She will either understand your explanation or not, but she will respect you in the future for your truthfulness.
The sky is blue, because the other colors are reflected off the atmosphere.
The grass is green because of a chemical in grass called chlorophyll.
Ice is cold because it has had all the heat removed.
The sun is hot because it is having a huge chemical reaction.
And finally, all things exist because God made them that way.
U could go all scientific on her or say "That's just the way it it sweetie" Or U could both look up the info in a book. That might encourage her to find her own answers .
In simplistic terms that a 3-year-old might understand:
The sky is blue because air makes blue light bounce around in all directions.
The grass is green because sunlight is really made up of all colors. The grass absorbs all the colors except green, which it reflects back to our eyes.
Ice is cold because it has a lower temperature than our bodies. When we touch it, it sucks heat out of our bodies.
The Sun is hot because it is a giant ball of fire.
Nobody understands...any help please?
50 points for someone willing to do this!!!!!!!!!!?
