The agency manager is a delightful woman. She granted me a rental despite no record of my reservation in her system (wasn't her fault), telling me not to worry, that we'll work out the details upon my return. She also surreptitiously asked her colleague to sneak out and buy me a pain au chocolat and a coffee while I was waiting for the confusion to be resolved. It's amazing how little things like this make a world of difference.
