Hy @ all!
I'm just new in using OX. First I have to say that I'm called an "admin", but in fact the real administration of the whole OX-Server is made by another firm here in town. So: Please don't get annoyed if I'm asking some silly-sounding questions... ;)
First of all: I want to use Mercury as a local client with ox. Sounds nice. IMAP and the import of the calendar already worked fine. But now it seems like I'm not able to import an address-book....
Mercury offers several possibilities of importing - but none works. Now my question: How do I get the official OX-Address-Book as an LDAP/LDIF-File? The Calendar could be imported by using http://ox-server-address/servlet/webdav.ical - but how do I get to the addressbook? There's no User-Defined Address-Book - just a global one for each user in our company. How do I reach it?
Is there anybody out there able to help me please?
THX a lot... .
Again about my Problems: Mail checking works fine with every client. (First of all with Thunderbird). Importing the Celendar is sometimes a Prob (e.g. with that evaluate-Version of the OxTender and Outlook), but works fine with Sunbird. With Oxtender you can of course import the calender.
But I'm not able in anyway to import that global address-book in any Client. And that's not because of a server-error, so that you could use those log-files....
Again: Use Oxtender or use LDAP.
Isn't there a simple way for a simple user to get to this address-book - first of all maybe with Thunderbird?
Again LDAP.
Daniel
I've tried to integrate it with the following URL: http://ox-server/servlet/webdav-ical
Try webdav.ical instead of webdav-ical.
There's no possibility for me of getting those log-files. And the company, which is hosting and managing our ox-System, isn't just a simple one. Just a few weeks ago we've lost about 800 mails because they didn't make a backup!
But that's another point...
Our employees aren't very amused about the decision to work with Ox. Before that, they've used GroupWise in here - and that's what they all called the best. Now they're forced to use Ox - and just don't wont use it...
Now I'm forced to find out how well those Oxtenders work and which Programm might be finer to work with. (Something like Outlook, Thunderbird or so)
And that's why I'm asking for those things.

You may connect directly to the LDAP Server, without a servlet. Some PIM Clients support that feature. This needs a configuration of the LDAP Host for remote access and a configuration of the LDAP search string at the client.
"workn not" is no error report. Where are the Logfiles?
It would take 10 minutes to call the guy who takes care of your ox - do it :
Daniel
Thx for this quick reply. But as I already said above: I don't have any adminstrative rights on that server. And Mulberry (or any other PIM I've already tried) is able to use a "web-address" for import. They always need a local stored ldap or ldif - File....
Do you know any Client that works in another way? Those cn-things and so on I've already read about in the ox-wiki - but I have to admit that I just don't know where to put them in - because all those clients didn't accept it...
Just a bad kind of combination: That Ox-Mail and me...
Hi,
configuring LDAP for external access should be done by your system integrator/administrator. He has to modify some LDAP and system properties.
Two clients that are known to support "live" LDAP without local ldif files:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/
http://kontact.kde.org/
You can also fetch contacts via the vcard servlet like this:
https://ox.example.com/servlet/webdav.vcard?contactfolder=6
where "6" is the internal users addressbook, you'll see the corresponding folder id in your browsers statusbar when hovering over the "Internal Users" folder in the OX5 folder tree.
Thx again for your replay - although I must admit that it still doesn't work. I've just made a VM with Kubuntu. There I've configured kontact. However: Mails are send and recieved well, but it won't work with my calendar (I've tried to integrate it with the following URL: http://ox-server/servlet/webdav-ical)
Thought it was right - but obviously not. (Although this configuration has already worked with e.x. Mozilla Thunderbird... )
And when I tried to find out that User-folder-Number-Stuff which you told me with that last link - there was nothing found on hovering anywhere. Don't know what those admins did configure....
Isn't there another way of reaching this annoying calendar and address-book? Kontact gives just so much possibilities - and it seems like I'm not able to use at least just ONE... :howling:
Can anyone explain it to me like to a 1 or 2 year old child? :hopeful:
Nobody understands...any help please?
50 points for someone willing to do this!!!!!!!!!!?
