  • No, no, no, no. I know a few people who had their cat's spayed by the SPCA, and their stitches were all sloppy and tore open. I'd reconsider having a vet do them. If they are done right, it will be a much better experience for you and kitty.

Also, it is my understanding that laser surgery is just less invasive, and therfore more comfy on your pet. I've usually opted for traditional surgeries mosty because of cost issues, and I've never had an issue with any of them chewing or bothering them. Of course, I go to a reputable vet, so I know they will do a good job :)

  • Yes, and Yes, I have had my dog and cats both spayed at the SPCA and they both did very well, but now I want my cat declawed and the SPCA wont declaw cats, and I have heard that lazer surgery is much better than the traditional surgery,. good luck,

  • I have had two of my cats fixed at the SPCA. Most recent, last Feb., I had my black cat there to get fixed. I actually asked them when I picked her up how she did and they said she was very well behaved for them. The only downside, was she was covered in her urine. To dry her off I used a blanket. She was seen at the vet about 1-2 weeks later for a check up. They looked her over and she was healing fine. They were impressed with how well and quick she was healing.

Now....don't get me wrong, not every story turns out like mine. I've just been lucky with the SPCA vets that have fixed my kitties. Not everyone is as lucky as I am.

  • i've had 6 cats fixed at the humane society i also brought 3 others up for other people. everything was fine

  • yes I had one of my cats spayed there

  • Yes it is your best bet, call them and ask if they a discount day where you can save up to 80% off regular fees..
depends what the laser surgery is for.

  • The vets who do the spaying usually do it as donated work, so they'd be the same vets that are in the clinics around the city.

You CAN ask what their survival rate is, to see if one particular vet has a larger incidence of trouble doing the surgery there at the SPCA rather than in the clinics. But usually it's not a problem. These vets do this type of surgery so many times they can do it in their sleep.

  • I have heard good things about the SPCA. I would trust them.

  • BCSPCA is a very good organization, and have earned their respect and credibilty. They use 'real' vets, and quite often their vets work 'pro-bono' so the organization can continue their work. Yes, it would be a good alternative (if you don't have a vet of your own). I would trust the BCSPCA before I would trust a strange vet. As far as laser surgery goes, I haven't had experience with it (yet), but my 3 cats have all been spayed/nuetered the traditional way, and 2 of my cats were from the SPCA.

  • Nobody understands...any help please?
50 points for someone willing to do this!!!!!!!!!!?
