People who make their dogs howl by howling themselves, playing certain music, etc. They can't help but howl back, it is ingrained. It doesn't seem like the dogs are having fun. But people seem to think it's funny. Do you think it's funny, or abusive?
dog howls are actually a sign of bonding so when you howl with your dog you are bonding
Unless the dogs are being Physically hurt, it is not abuse. The dogs may be bored of it because the people do it so much.
How do you know the dogs aren't having fun?
If the people are playing something that hurts their ears, they're going to leave. If the people are annoying them by howling, they're not going to howl and they're going to leave. If the dogs don't want to howl, they're NOT GOING TO. They can help howling back in other words. Don't believe me? Try to get a dog to howl who normally howls when you play a certain song in a place where they're distracted, playing, or scared. They won't howl. Another sign that dogs don't howl because the sound bothers or hurts them is the number of sound-punishment machines out there. The dog barks or howls, and the machine sends out a hard for humans to hear sound (like a dog whistle or a sub-sonic one) that interrupts the howl/barking. These machines would completely not work if irritating or painful sounds make dogs howl.
Dogs aren't machines. You don't push a button and get them to howl whether they like it or not. That's not how they work. And a dog who is being annoyed by a sound isn't going to howl... they're going to leave. Or attack the sound.
We don't know all the reasons dogs howl. Wolves howl to find out where one another are, after a hunt like in celebration, when meeting with another, in response to another pack, or just, it seems, for the joy of it. They seem anxious and energetic before howling, then they howl and it seems to relieve the stress, so howling may also be a way to reaffirm that we're a family and relieve any stress that may be going on. It took my dog years to find his howl. Being a border collie/saluki type with probably coyote in his background, he's more prone to ya-ya-yaping type howling. But, with a lot of patience and certain family members howling, he's started howling. It's still ONLY when someone is howling with him, and afterwards he's excited and rather happy, never aggravated. Sometimes a certain sound or song can get him started, but it's not aggravating to him.
Some people may think it's abusive but it really isn't. Dog's were breed from wolfs so in a sense people getting their dogs to howl are just making their dogs happy believe it or not. Their making the dogs feel like one of the family it's just like when family's sing together that's all
It's neither abuse nor funny it's just animal in-steaks
funny
not abusive or funny, just plain mean
i think it is abusive. have u ever tried to walk by a dog without him hearing u. with most healthy dogs u cant i know with mine she can tell when the kids get home from school and i dont have any kids in school. she can hear my car pull up in the drive way. and she knows the sound my husband truck made. dogs can hear very high notes. have u ever seen a dog cry when a cop gos by running hot. it hurts they ears. what do u do if u get into someones car and the song they are listening too is way to loud it hurts your ears same with dogs. that is their was of telling us to stop but we are stuipd and think it is funny.
For the howling them selves is fun but if it's a HIGH pitched noise that the dog is howling is because it hurts the dog's ears, but i would consider it medium or mild abuse considering somethings i've seen and heard that i never wanted to see and hear.
nothing wrong with a dog howling, it's natural for them. ever hear a pit bull howl! now that's funny!
fun
fun!
funnt
I think its funny, but I would never do it loud to my dogs, maybe a little sqeak, but nothing more
If they get them to howl by howling themselves, fun.
But if they get them to howl by playing painfully high-pitched noise, abuse.
If the dog is not enjoying it, it's not fun. Just because a dog doesn't have a highly developed sense of humor or an ability to walk away from a stupid pet trick doesn't mean it's okay to take advantage of the poor thing for your own amusement.
Sure, it's not abuse like hitting it or starving it. But it's not kind either. It would be more amusing and more interesting to teach the dog a couple of tricks that he can perform for treats.
fun
I don't consider that abuse. I do that myself when I'm playign with my dog, he loves it, he'll run after me, and play with me. {He's a puppy}
It's not abuse. Trust me, I have animals who were abused, And I'm a small animal rescue Agency. So if I'm rescueing, then I don't think I would abusive. Lol
Nobody understands...any help please?
50 points for someone willing to do this!!!!!!!!!!?
