Media Center and the dashboard aren't stored on the HDD so you can't lose that stuff.
When you format the HDD on the 360 you will lose all your profiles, game saves, all DLC, game updates and music. However you will not lose the current dashboard or media center. That information is on a part of the HDD that cannot be erased by formating the HDD using the Xbox 360.
nah those are on a partition plus u can re download all that, u will lose game data and demos.
