What are sitemaps used for? It has to do with linkage and indexing. IT is basically  a page that features or lists the links you have on your web site, making it easier for search engines to proceed and spider your web site. Sitemaps are usually found near the bottom page of the web site.

Site maps are important because they contain the top level pages of your website. Ideally this page will not exceed over 100 links for the most favorable views. Having a good HTML sitemap will assure the navigation of potential customers and those visitors will easily find what they came to your website for. Visitors can also browse with ease and therefore stay on your site longer.

Having good links within your page will ensure that spiders located your web site on a regular basis. Thus your site will be indexed by that important search engine.

HTML sitemaps can also make it easier for search engine robots to ?awl?n your web site. It is this ?awling?hat allows search engines to index a page and follow the links and then add these to the database. If a search engine fails to locate a page, this would be due to the links not being accessible and the sitemap will address the situation
